As someone else suggested - stay in Ballard and then take a Uber or Lyft down to Pike Place (a 10 -15 min , inexpensive trip). You will spend more night life in Ballard old town area and during day you can visit boutiques in same area - or go on a walk at Golden Gardens park - and other cool locations close by.
